Post Falls Thrower Wins Two State A-1 Titles

Ian Waltz of Post Falls won Idaho A-1 state championships in the shot put and discus Friday in Boise, smashing the record in the latter by 15 feet, 8 inches.

Waltz won the shot with a put of 62 feet, 1 inch and the discus with a 203-9 discus throw.

Baseball: Coeur d’Alene (16-11) will play for the A-1 championship today in Caldwell against regional rival Lewiston following a 4-3, come-frombehind win over Hillcrest.

Lewiston (23-6) beat Boise 6-5.

CdA fell behind 3-0 before rallying for its sixth straight win.

Softball: Senior Kelly Nelson pitched a three-hitter to lead Lake City of Coeur d’Alene past Nampa 2-1 and into the A-1 title game today in Caldwell. The Timberwolves (25-3) will play Centennial (22-6), a 19-0 winner over Lewiston.

Coeur d’Alene (14-15) beat Caldwell 7-4 to advance against Capital (22-3) in the consolation final.
