North Market Grocery Store Robbed

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man pretending to buy M&Ms robbed a grocery store clerk at 10 p.m. Sunday at Safeway, 4512 N. Market.

When the clerk opened the cash register for change, the robber reached inside his jacket, indicated he had a weapon and demanded cash, according to a statement by the Spokane Police Department.

A police dog tracked the man several blocks and found a brown leather jacket the robber may have shed. The dog lost track near Freya and Wellesley.

The robber is described as white, possibly in his 40s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 170 pounds. He had brown hair and wore blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
