Syracuse won its sixth NCAA lacrosse championship, the second in three years, holding Maryland scoreless for a 25-minute stretch of the second half in a 13-9 victory on Monday.
Rob Kavovit had four goals and three assists for the Orangemen, whose six NCAA Division I titles is second on the all-time list behind Johns Hopkins’ seven.
Nick Licameli and Mark Fietta each had two goals for Syracuse (13-2), which closed the season with an 11-game winning streak. The Orangmen won the national championship in 1990 and 1993.
