Tornado Kills 3 In Berkshires

Three people were killed Monday when a tornado touched down in this town in the Berkshires, causing serious damage and numerous injuries, police said.

A nursing home was among the buildings hit.

Ten people were treated for injuries at Fairview Hospital. One person had a serious neck fracture but most suffered cuts caused by flying glass, hospital president Claire Bowen said.

Showers and thunderstorms were increasing in intensity as they pushed through New England on Monday.
