Nightclub Altercation Leads To Gunfire, Chase
Gunfire erupted during a fight at a Spokane Valley nightclub Friday night and spilled over into a car chase along Interstate 90.
Spokane County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who reportedly fired four shots from a handgun during the fight at Club Mario’s, 6515 E. Sprague, about 10:40 p.m.
When the gunfire started, a group of people involved in the fight left the club, got into a car and went west on I-90. The gunman chased them in a blue and white Oldsmobile Cutlass and continued to shoot at them.
Several of the bullets hit the side of their car, but no one was injured.
As many as three people in a group of about a dozen involved in the fight were reported to have guns, but the man was the only one to shoot, said Lt. David Wiyrick, Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
The gunman was described as 19 years old, 6-foot, 140 pounds and with braided hair.
Fire damages boat plant
A small fire in the ventilation system at Bayliner Marine Corp. chased employees from their work stations Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out about 11:30 a.m., damaging a ventilation duct on the plant’s east side. Sawdust that had collected inside the duct ignited, said Karl Bold, Valley Fire District assistant chief.
Bayliner’s fire brigade was able to knock the fire down by the time firefighters from Valley Fire arrived at the plant at 18001 E. Euclid.
Firefighters were concerned fiberglass used to build boats at the factory would catch fire and turn a small fire into a large blaze.
“If it ever got going, it would be one heck of a fire,” Bold said.
But firefighters extinguished the flames within minutes. Damage was limited to the ventilation duct.
No one was injured and workers returned to work about 40 minutes after the fire started.
Man assaulted, robbed leaving party
A Spokane Valley man was knocked unconscious and robbed early Saturday as he walked to his car.
The man told deputies he left a party at Glenrose and Spur shortly after midnight. As he walked to his car, he was grabbed from behind by his hair, spun around and knocked to the ground.
The fall reportedly knocked him out.
When the man awoke 15 minutes later, his wallet was gone. He told deputies he lost a small amount of cash and credit cards in his wallet.
Woman arrested on drug charges
Deputies stopped a woman for a traffic violation late Sunday in the Valley and arrested her on drug charges.
Shelly L. Roullier, 28, was driving near Second and Dora when deputies stopped her. Deputies discovered Roullier’s license was suspended and arrested her, Wiyrick said.
When deputies searched her car, they found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine residue, Wiyrick said.
Roullier was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony. She was booked into the Spokane County Jail for driving while her license was suspended and the drug charge.
Man charged with forgery
Sheriff’s detectives arrested a man for allegedly cashing a stolen check at a Valley bank.
Keith L. Taylor, 18, was arrested Friday and charged with forgery, a felony.
Detectives say the check Taylor cashed was stolen from the Longhorn Barbecue plant at 10420 E. Montgomery. The check is one of several stolen from Longhorn, detectives said.
Taylor was booked into the county jail on the forgery charge.
