Tektronix Launches New Chinese Venture

Tektronix Inc. announced Wednesday it had formed a wholly-owned subsidiary based in China.

Tektronix Electronic Technology Ltd. of Beijing will feature a new multimillion-dollar technology center for product research in communications, television, video and color printing.

The announcement coincides with the company’s 10th anniversary in China, said Jerry Meyer, Tektronix chief executive and president.

The Wilsonville-based manufacturer of scientific measurement, color printing, video and computer networking equipment is investing in the region to tailor its products to the Chinese market.

“For example, localized software will be developed for Chinese TV stations,” Meyer said.
