Eddie George, RB/Sr., Ohio: In No. 4 Buckeyes’ 49-21 thrashing of Minnesota, George had 23 carries for 178 yards and three touchdowns.
Warrick Dunn, RB/Sr., Florida St.: In Seminoles’ 33-28 loss to No. 24 Virginia Thursday, Dunn rushed for a meager 54 yards on 14 carries. He scored on TD runs of 14 and 7 yards but was stopped inches from the end zone as time expired.
Danny Kanell, QB/Sr., Florida St.: Also on Thursday, Kanell put up impressive numbers: 32-67-3-454. He threw TD passes of 35 and 38 yards.
Tommie Frazier, QB/Sr., Nebraska: In No. 1 Huskers’ 73-14 win over Iowa St., Frazier threw for two scores (6, 36) and ran for two more (4, 1). He rushed for 62 yards and passed for 118.
Keyshawn Johnson, WR/Sr., USC: In Trojans 31-30 squeaker over Stanford, Johnson had four catches for 69 yards and one TD. He also rushed for 30 yards.
Troy Davis, RB/Soph., Iowa State: The nation’s leading rusher who averaged 190 yards and 31 carries per game, finished with 121 yards on 28 carries against the nation’s second-ranked rush defense.

Danny Wuerffel, QB/Jr., Florida In No. 3 Gators’ 58-20 win over Northern Illinois, Wuerffel was given the day off against the 49-point underdog Huskies.

John Hessler tied his school record with five TD passes to lead Colorado to a 45-32 win over Oklahoma State.
Rick LaFavers intercepted Southern Methodist’s late 2-point conversion attempt and returned it 99 yards to give Texas Christian two points, preserving a 19-16 win.
STREAKS
Miami’s 35-14 victory over Baylor was the Hurricanes’ 13th straight against a team from the Southwest Conference….. Dartmouth has not lost to Columbia since 1971, winning 24 games and tying once following a 43-27 win….. Notre Dame’s 35-17 win over Navy was the Irish’s 32nd straight over the Midshipmen and tied the national record for the longest winning streak over another team.

- Kansas coach Glen Mason after he was told Missouri coach Larry Smith gave him an obscene gesture after the Jayhawks threw for a touchdown with only about a minute left in a 42-23 victory over the Tigers.
