Texas Southern In Trouble

An NCAA rules violation by Texas Southern’s track squad could keep the Tigers’ basketball team from a trip to the NCAA tournament, the sports governing body said.

The indoor track program failed to compete in the minimum number of meets, Kathryn Reith, spokeswoman for the NCAA, said. Without the requisite meets, the school did not have enough sports to compete in Division I and had to be placed on the NCAA’s restricted membership list.
