Hydro Test Has Purpose
Many people have said it would be a cold day before unlimited hydroplane racing returned to the waters of Lake Coeur d’Alene.
But on a cold day in November, backers of a proposed race in August will try to convince people it should happen.
The Spokane-based U-19 Appian Renegade will do demonstration runs today at noon off the City Dock.
The session is designed to showcase the sport for the Coeur d’Alene City Council, which meets tonight, and others who would have to OK a proposed Aug. 25 race.
A Coeur d’Alene stop would join a proposed renewal of a race in Kelowna, British Columbia, on the Northwest schedule that includes events in the Tri-Cities and Seattle.
“My response as been 100 percent positive so far,” said Craig Frost of Spokane, the race promoter.
Spokane’s Tom Hindley and Chelan’s Mark Evans will share driving duties during testing today.
GSL playoffs
Starting times for two Saturday playoff games involving Greater Spokane League teams have been changed.
With Kamiakin coming to town for both soccer and football, the times for the games have been moved to accommodate Braves fans.
The soccer game at Mead High School has been moved up to 11 a.m.
The football game between Kamiakin (7-2) and Central Valley (9-0) at Albi Stadium has been pushed back to 1:30.
