South Korea Seeks Slush Fund Millions
South Korea today sought to verify whether former President Roh Tae-woo diverted part of a $650 million slush fund to Swiss banks in a scandal that could threaten leading industrialists and politicians.
A Foreign Ministry official speaking on condition of anonymity said attempts would be made to confirm the allegations.
The official said, however, the process would be difficult. He said Switzerland usually does not inspect bank accounts unless clear, written evidence is presented showing criminal activity.
