Bad Water Found Near U.S. Capitol

Compiled From Wire Services

The Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday issued a boil water alert for a neighborhood near the U.S. Capitol where E-coli and coliform bacteria were found in drinking water.

Traces of the bacteria were discovered last week during a routine test of drinking water at Amidon Elementary School, about a mile from the Capitol, said EPA spokesman Jeff Hass.

The agency issued an alert for residents of a four-square-block area of a Southwest Washington Capitol Hill neighborhood to boil their water before consuming it at least through Saturday.
