Church Bazaar Hit By Thieves
A north Spokane church was hit by a thief who stole about $400 during the church’s traditional turkey dinner and craft bazaar Thursday night.
The money was in a zippered bank bag when it turned up missing during the dinner and bazaar at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1725 E. Bridgeport. The money was to be used to help support the congregation.
“It just makes me sick to think that you can’t trust people in a church,” said Kathy Briggs, the lay leader of Trinity United. “It’s disheartening.”
About 7 p.m., church members discovered the money was missing. Briggs urged people who wrote checks for the dinner to have them canceled.
People who wish to make donations can call Trinity United at 483-2361.
