Mount Rainier Curbs Snowboarding

From Staff And Wire Reports

Snowboarding has been temporarily banned in Mount Rainier National Park because of damage to fragile vegetation.

The vegetation has suffered “significant damage” during the past two weekends, park Acting Superintendent Ronald Sarff said in a news release.

The closure will remain in effect until enough snow has accumulated to protect the park’s natural resources, the release said. The situation will be evaluated before each weekend.
