Jury Recommends Death Sentenced
A jury has recommended execution for a man convicted of killing another man who prosecutors say was targeted because he was gay.
It took only minutes Friday for jurors to recommend that Ronald Knight, 27, die in Florida’s electric chair for killing Brendan Meehan, 22, after they left a nightclub together May 8.
Judge Edward Rodgers will decide Knight’s punishment Dec. 4.
Meehan’s body was found on a road west of West Palm Beach about five hours after a video camera recorded him leaving the Heartbreaker Dance Club with Knight and accomplice Sean Stephens.
Stephens received a 10-year prison sentence in return for his testimony against Knight.
