Accidental Gunshot Wounds Man

A 43-year-old Post Falls man was hospitalized Monday after he accidentally shot himself in the hand with his son’s gun.

Kevin Jones was listed in good condition at Kootenai Medical Center.

Jones went into his 17-year-old son’s room Monday morning. “He found the gun lying there and he was trying to unload it, and he accidentally shot himself,” said Post Falls police Sgt. Scott Haug.

Jones had pushed the barrel against his hand to unload it, Haug said. The bullet went through Jones’ index finger and out the top of his hand.

“He had movement in his fingers when he left to go to the hospital,” Haug said.

Haug warned gun owners to keep their guns pointed in a safe direction whether or not the gun is loaded. , DataTimes MEMO: ID headline: Bullet pierces man’s hand
