UI’s Yanchulova Mvp
Idaho senior Tzvetelina Yanchulova was named the Big Sky Conference Most Valuable Player and teammate Jessica Moore was named Freshman of the Year as Idaho took two of the three top volleyball awards given out by the league.
Yanchulova, junior setter Lynne Hyland and junior outside hitter Louisa Kawulok were named first team all-conference.
Kellie Glaus, a senior middle blocker from Eastern Washington, received honorable mention.
Yanchulova’s honor marks the fourth consecutive year that an Idaho player has captured the conference’s top award. It also marked the second consecutive first-team honor for Yanchulova.
Yanchulova was named the MVP of the Big Sky Conference Tournament on Saturday as Idaho won its fourth consecutive league crown by sweeping Idaho State in Memorial Gym for the Vandals 46th consecutive home win.
Moore’s award gave Idaho its fourth freshman of the year in the last six seasons.
Boise State’s Jill Fleming, a former Reardan High player, was selected to the second team.
Idaho has won 13 consecutive matches and will travel to Utah to face the Utes on Friday night.
