Man Thrown From Truck, Killed

From Staff Reports

A 31-year-old man died Tuesday in a one-car accident in Stevens County, bringing to 22 the number of traffic deaths there so far this year.

Dennis Purcell, of Valley, Wash., died at the scene about 7 p.m.

Another man in the car, Gregory Bell, 24, also of Valley, suffered injuries to his pelvis and spleen. He was listed in serious condition at Deaconess Medical Center.

Washington State Patrol troopers said the men were driving north on state Highway 231, less than a mile south of Valley. It is unclear who was driving, troopers said.

The pickup went off the road into an embankment, where it hit a pole and rolled several times.

The men were not wearing their seat belts and both were thrown from the truck, troopers said. , DataTimes
