Crusading Journalist Dead At 83
Peter Surava, a Swiss journalist and writer who fought fascism during World War II, has died of a heart attack. He was 83.
Surava was born Hans Werner Hirsch on April 25, 1912.
He made a name for himself as a journalist and then editor of The Nation newspaper, which attacked fascist regimes, especially Nazi Germany, and denounced social injustices in his native Switzerland.
