‘Primo’ Parking Saved For Elderly

From Staff And Wire Reports

Community policing volunteers in the Nevada-Lidgerwood neighborhood and NorthTown Mall are teaming up to make holiday parking easier for senior citizens and the handicapped.

The mall has set aside 70 parking spaces in the garage across from Mervyn’s for seniors and those needing closer proximity to the mall. Volunteers from Neva-Wood COPS will patrol the area and can help carry packages.

Neva-Wood COPS will staff the area from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the entire week before Christmas. In exchange for the service, those who park in the area can make a donation to the community policing effort in Neva-Wood.

“We hope people use this,” said NorthTown marketing director Michelle Driano. “We’ve reserved 70 primo spots on the main level.”
