Daren Puppa stopped 37 shots as the Tampa Bay Lightning won for the fifth time in their last six games by defeating the New York Islanders on Saturday.

Puppa, wearing jersey No. 1 instead of his customary 93, saved the game by robbing Alexander Semak with 1:30 left with a left pad save and Patrick Flatley on the rebound with the same pad while New York was on a power play.

John Tucker and Brian Bellows scored for the Lightning, who have beaten the Islanders six straight games. New York’s last victory came on April 13, 1994.

Dallas

Mike Modano had a shorthanded goal and Andy Moog turned aside 26 shots for his 22nd career shutout, sending Dallas Stars past New Jersey.

Dave Gagner added a third-period goal for the Stars, knocking in a rebound while Dallas held a two-man advantage. Gagner’s ninth of the season came with 7:06 to play.

Dallas turned in a solid defensive performance in front of Moog, who registered his 318th career victory and the Stars’ second shutout of the season.

Montreal

Sandis Ozolinsh scored with 1:52 left in regulation to give Colorado a tie with Montreal.

Pressing for the equalizer late in the game, Ozolinsh took a loose puck in the high slot and beat Patrick Roy with a low shot to tie a fast-paced, end-to-end match between former provincial rivals.

Andrei Kovalenko also scored for Colorado, the Western Conference leader at 14-4-4. The Avalanche, who moved from Quebec this season, are unbeaten in its last five games.

Brett Hull revived a struggling power play with a goal and an assist and had 12 shots as St. Louis tied Toronto.

The Blues were in an 0-for-21 slump before Hull scored on a rebound.

During a 5-on-3 advantage in the first period. He put a pass on Geoff Courtnall’s stick in front of the net for a power-play goal that put the Blues ahead 2-1 in the second period.

The Blues were 2 for 9 on the power play, but remained winless in their last four games (0-3-1).
