Two Injured When Van Swerves Across Line

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two people were injured Saturday afternoon when a van slammed into the car they were riding in on Highway 395 south of Deer Park.

Stephen P. McNeil, 25, swerved across the center line to avoid a car that was turning left onto Wild Rose Road. As it crossed the center line, McNeil’s 1993 Chevy van hit a car driven by Frederick F. Rebollido.

The impact to the rear passenger side sent Rebollido’s four-door, 1985 Plymouth Reliant skidding 50 feet before the car tumbled onto its side.

Rebollido, 31, of Deer Park, was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center and treated for a minor back injury. Rebollido’s wife, Merianne, 36, was also taken to Sacred Heart with a possible fractured left arm.

Both were treated and released.

A second passenger in Rebollido’s car, 9-year-old Briana Summers, of Deer Park, was not injured.

Washington State Patrol investigators were unable to determine if occupants of Rebollido’s car were wearing seat belts.

McNeil, 25, of Valley, was not injured. He was wearing his seat belt. , DataTimes
