Anderson Turns Down $40 Million
Kenny Anderson, who becomes a free agent on July 1, turned down the Nets’ offer of about $40 million over the next six seasons.
Anderson is looking at is a contract that would pay him close to the $7.5 million that teammate Derrick Coleman earns. Anderson is in the final year of his original five-year, $14.5 million deal.
Coleman, sidelined all season with an irregular heartbeat, practiced for the first time this season and said he hopes to play in Boston on Friday.
Negotiators for the NBA’s locked-out referees reported some progress after a three-hour meeting with league officials, who are preparing to add more replacement refs next week. The two sides planned to meet again today.
