Wtb Pro-Am Loses Its ‘Am’
Washington Trust Bank Cup matches will have a different look when they get under way at Manito Country Club on Oct. 19-20.
There won’t be any amateurs playing.
In years past, the top-10 pros took on the top-10 amateurs after a season-long series of pro-ams.
The format has changed this year, because some recent Cup matches have not been particularly competitive. So the matches only will involve the top-20 point-getting pros.
Chapman and best-ball competitions will be played on Thursday, with singles going on Friday.
The pros will be divided into two teams, with those even-numbered in the standings taking on the odd-numbered finishers.
The top-20 pros after 23 outings are: 1) Chris Mitchell, Sun Dance. 2) Mark Rohde, Rohde’s Golf Studio. 3) Mark Gardner, The Creek at Qualchan. 4) Dan Porter, Downriver. 5) Tom Conlon, Indian Canyon. 6) Bob Scott, Liberty Lake. 7) Billy Ross, Wandermere. 8) Dan Koesters, U. of Idaho. 9) Randy Buckenberger, Twin Lakes. 10) Dave Christenson, Indian Canyon.
11) Steve Prugh, Manito Country Club. 12) Scott Shagool, Painted Hills. 13) Paul McCarthy, Lewiston Country Club. 14) Tim Morton, Avondale. 15) Matt Bunn, Spokane Country Club. 16) Mike Elmore, Coeur d’Alene Golf Club. 17) Ron Barker, Ritzville. 18) Jerry Zink, The Fairways. 19) Scott Petterborg, MeadowWood. 20) Les Blakley, Spokane CC.
