O’Bannon Signs With Nets

Compiled From Wire Services

Ed O’Bannon, the ninth player selected in last June’s NBA draft, signed with the New Jersey Nets.

Under terms of the league’s new rookie salary scale, O’Bannon has a three-year contract that will pay him between $3.25 million and $3.90 million.

The Houston Rockets have re-signed forward Chucky Brown and center Charles Jones. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

The Atlanta Hawks announced they have signed their second-round draft choice, guard Donald Boyce of Colorado, to a two-year contract.

The Bulls will throw newly acquired forward Dennis Rodman another life line by signing former Bull and Rodman confidant Jack Haley, sources close to the Bulls said. Haley, 31, a 6-foot-10-inch backup center and power forward, averaged 2.4 points for the San Antonio Spurs last season. Meanwhile, Pete Myers, let go by the Bulls following their acquisition of Rodman, joined the training camp roster of the Charlotte Hornets.

Center Jon Koncak, who has spent all 10 years of his NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks, signed with the Orlando Magic.
