Even Hollywood’s Kids Can Use A Helping Hand
There are worse ways to make a living than being a nanny. The Los Angeles-based Buzz magazine reports that some celebrities’ nannies make $40,000 a year and more.
“Our nanny goes to all our parties,” said one employer, “and she’s already been asked out by a lot of famous actors.”
Buzz also reports that multiple nannies, one for each child, are not unusual. Marrieds Bruce Willis and Demi Moore employ four nannies: one for each of their three children and one to fill in on the others’ days off.
Meanwhile, Jack Nicholson and Rebecca Broussard share the same fill-in nanny with Warren Beatty and Annette Bening.
Finally, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman have two nannies for their two children, but each works alone, five days on, five days off.
Loose talk
Conan O’Brien on the Culkin family dispute (on “Late Night”): “It was reported today that Macaulay Culkin has been having wild beer parties at his New York City apartment. Apparently one neighbor went to complain and he slipped on a bag of marbles and got hit in the head with a paint can tied to a rope.” Now, he’s nearly a 40-weight ex-major-leaguer
Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd turns 36 today.
Now we know why Demi hires so many nannies
Virginia Guynes was arrested in Las Vegas on Tuesday for failing to do court-ordered volunteer work following a drunken-driving conviction. Guynes, mother of Demi Moore, paid a $100 fine and was released.
Brit enterpriser does himself a royal favor
Jonathan Rolls, an enterprising Briton, was told to stop selling T-shirt bearing the likeness of 13-year-old Prince William. Rolls agreed, saying he didn’t want to “upset anyone.” Then he announced his plan to sell “an ‘I’m not Prince William T-shirt.”’
He needed an ‘I’m no flight attendant’ T-shirt
On a recent commuter flight from New York to Rochester, N.Y., an unidentified passenger confused a tall, balding man with a flight attendant. “I asked him if this was the flight to Rochester,” said the passenger, who declined to identify himself. There’s no word on what the man, Britain’s Prince Andrew, replied.
One thing’s for sure, he definitely Means what he says
Russell Means, the actor and Indian activist, has only good things to say about his 15-year-old daughter, Tatewin Means, the newly crowned Miss South Dakota Teen USA. “Of course, I’m proud of her,” Means said. “She’s the first Indian to win a pageant - to win anything - in the most racist state in the union. But I’m more proud that she wants to be a pediatrician and that she won a national science award.”
In Hollywood, it’s best to put on a happy face
Matthew Perry, who plays Chandler Bing on the popular “Friends” sitcom, looks a bit different this season. And it’s more than just the near-buzz-cut hairdo. Perry, according to one report, had some facial reconstruction over the off-season: His nose was straightened, thinned and softened, and his chin was reshaped.
