Baseball Saved In Milwaukee

Associated Press

The state Senate just before dawn Friday voted 16-15 to salvage a plan to keep the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin by raising taxes to help build a $250 million stadium.

The vote came at 5 a.m., 16 hours after the Senate first took up debate. Passage followed two unsuccessful tallies.

“Somebody hit a grand slam home run … and made millions of people very, very happy,” Brewers owner Bud Selig said after the vote.
