Josephine Arnett St. Maries

Service for Josephine “Jo” Arnett, 68, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Arnett, who was born in Kenilworth, Utah, died Monday in Moscow, Idaho.

She grew up in Chico, Calif., and in 1950 moved to Clarkston, Wash., where she worked for J.J. Newberry’s Variety Store.

She married Horace Mundell in 1952. He died in 1968.

She later worked for the Juliaetta Grade School in Juliaetta, Idaho, and married Wayne Arnett in Coeur d’Alene in 1970. She was a homemaker and lived in Alaska before moving to St. Maries in 1982. She divorced in 1988.

Survivors include her son, Larry Mundell of Kodiak, Alaska; two stepsons, Phil Arnett of Juliaetta and Steve Arnett of Lompoc, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Sandy Auer of St. Maries and Louise Boyd of Clarkston; her mother, Margaret Leavitt, and brother, Jack Leavitt, both of California; two sisters, Norma Cummins of California and Sally Loretta of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Charles Hink Spokane

Service for Charles D. Hink, 52, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Hink, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Wednesday.

He worked as a detective for the Washington State Patrol for 14 years and retired in 1984.

He was active in Crime Check and served in the Army Reserve.

Mr. Hink is survived by two daughters, Danielle and Dana Hink, both of Spokane.

Edith Castle Spokane

Service for Edith G. Castle, 82, is set for 2 p.m. today at Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Castle, who died Wednesday, was born in Odessa, Wash., and grew up in Harrington and Starbuck, Wash., where she graduated from high school.

She had lived in Spokane for 62 years and won a blue ribbon at the 1995 Spokane Interstate Fair for her hydrangeas. She was also a dressmaker.

Her husband of 46 years, Everett Castle, died in 1982.

She is survived by one daughter, Frances Mahoney of Spokane; one sister, Bertha Lloyd of Waitsburg, Wash; two brothers, Raymond Estes of Ridgefield, Wash., and Robert Estes of Wilbur, Wash.; one granddaughter and one grandson.

Robert Riedinger Garfield, Wash.

Service for Robert R. “Bob” Riedinger, 58, will be at 10 a.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. Burial will follow at Garfield Cemetery. The American Legion will participate in a military graveside service.

Mr. Riedinger, who was born in Lewiston, died Wednesday at home.

He joined the Air Force in 1956 and served in Guam. Following his discharge, he began to work in road construction.

He worked for United Paving and Poe Asphalt Paving Co. and was most recently employed by Quad Cities Construction in Pullman as a heavy equipment operator.

He and his wife, Joan, had lived in Moscow, Juliaetta and Potlatch, Idaho, and moved to Garfield in 1983.

Mr. Riedinger was a member of the Catholic Church, Operating Engineers Union Local No 370, the Garfield Fire Department and the Garfield Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Daryl Riedinger of Garden Valley, Idaho, and Robby Riedinger of Garfield; three daughters, Debbie Riedinger of Garfield, Robin Riedinger of Palouse and Lori Riedinger of Pullman; three stepsons, Mark Leeper of Moscow and Jay and Bill Leeper, both of Canada; three brothers, Jim Riedinger of Spokane, Bill Riedinger of Pilot Rock, Ore., and John Riedinger of Lewiston; five sisters, Sue Oxford, Carleen Kriebel and Mary Hickman, all of Spokane, Judy Rice of Juliaetta and Nancy Perrine of Pilot Rock; and five grandchildren.

Eloise Paul Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Eloise V. Paul, 83, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fir Lane Chapel, 924 176th St., Spanaway, Wash. Yates Funeral Home of Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Paul, who was born in South Dakota, died Saturday at Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d’Alene.

She was raised in Perkins County, S.D., and graduated from high school in Lemmon, S.D., in 1929.

She worked at a bank in Lemmon for several years before marrying William Paul in 1946.

They moved to Hayden Lake, Idaho, in 1955, after which Mrs. Paul delivered newspapers for four years. She retired and became a homemaker in 1960. She moved to Tacoma in 1967 and returned to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1972.

She played the organ and piano at dances, movie houses and the American Lutheran Church of Lemmon. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Her husband died in 1993.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandee Tipke of Athol, Idaho, Shirley Andrews of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Sharon Peters of Carson City, Nev.; one sister, Esther Raab of Yelm, Wash.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Stoorza Post Falls

Memorial service for Kenneth William Stoorza, 75, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Post Falls Community Presbyterian Church. English Funeral Chapel of Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stoorza, who was born in Port Chester, N. Y., died Thursday at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene.

He moved to Post Falls 18 years ago from Connecticut and was a letter carrier for the Postal Service until his retirement in 1977.

He married Betty Mudry in 1946.

He was a volunteer at the Post Falls Tourism Center. He was also a member of the Post Falls Senior Center and the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, at home; two sons, Kenneth Stoorza Jr. of California and Louis Stoorza of Colville, Wash.; one daughter, Betty Nafziger of Grangeville, Idaho; one sister, Mrs. Morris Clark of Connecticut; one brother, Louis Stoorza; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Post Falls Tourism Center or the Post Falls Senior Center.

Michael Kidd Sandpoint

Service for Michael A. Kidd, 41, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sandpoint. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kidd, who was born in Stockton, Calif., died Thursday.

He moved to Sandpoint in 1974 and served a two-year mission with the Mormon Church in the Philippines. He married Meri Bostock in Logan, Utah, in 1979. They later moved to Lodi, Calif., where he worked in the family grocery business.

He returned to Sandpoint in 1995 and owned and operated the Movie Machine video store.

Survivors include his wife, at home; six children, Melenie, Jared, Michael, Heidi, Valeri and Shane, all of Sandpoint; his parents, Val and Norma Kidd of Sandpoint; one sister, Cynthia Kidd-Moody of American Fork, Utah; his grandmother, Marie Atkinson of Sandpoint; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

John Bowman Spokane

Private memorial graveside service for John A. Bowman, 73, will be held. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Bowman, who died Wednesday, was born in Valier, Mont.

He was a home builder and had lived in Spokane for 50 years.

He served in the Air Force during World War II and was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Sons of Norway.

He is survived by four sons, Michael Rowe of North Dakota, and Jack, Bob and Brad Bowman, all of Spokane; two daughters, Judith Hogan of California and Diana Wilson of Spokane; one sister, Donna Griffin of Nine Mile Falls, Wash.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Schlettert Spokane

Service for Marjorie Elaine Schlettert, 70, is set for 7 p.m. Sunday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service.

Born in Libby, Mont., Mrs. Schlettert died Wednesday.

She had lived in Spokane for 54 years and worked as a sales clerk in a drug store, and from 1975 to 1994, as a real estate agent for James S. Black and Co.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lee; one son, Bruce Schlettert of Spokane; one brother, Charles Ogle of New Orleans; one stepsister, Gayle Wagner of Aurora, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Chelsey York Spokane

Service for Chelsey Michelle York will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. There will be private burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Chelsey was born Dec. 11, 1994, in Spokane.

She died Wednesday from head injuries.

She is survived by her mother, Danette York of Spokane; father, Doak York of Spokane; her grandparents, Linda and Paul Poindexter, and Cathy and Dennis York, all of Spokane; and greatgrandparents, Anne Leggett of Arlington, Wash., and Helen Maciejewski and Josephine Poindexter both of Spokane.

Mansel Staley Spokane

Graveside service for Mansel D. Staley, 69, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Staley, who died Wednesday, was born in Osceola, Iowa, and graduated from high school there.

He joined the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, including Pearl Harbor.

He moved to Spokane from Farragut Naval Station in 1945.

Mr. Staley worked as a commercial painter and once painted the Spokane Coliseum. He also worked for Don Larsen Painting before retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Painters Local Union No. 269.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Glorine Staley; two sons, Benny and Donald Staley, both of Spokane; one brother, Donald Staley of Midwest City, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
