Doc’s Deal Probed

Dwight Gooden is ready to sign his Yankees contract, but the Players Association and associate general counsel Gene Orza continue to hold up the proceedings, claiming Gooden could not have done the deal alone, as the pitcher claims.

Gooden and the Yankees hope the contract will be signed today. Orza and the union want to make sure all the “special conditions” of the contract are fair.
