Charges Dropped After 60 Days In Jail; Two Sue

Associated Press

A local man is suing the city and its police department over the 60 days he spent in jail before assault charges were dropped for lack of evidence.

The lawsuit filed by Jefferey M. Miller and his alleged accomplice, Tammy Conatser, seeks unspecified damages for civil-rights violations. It accuses Walla Walla police of malicious prosecution and outrageous conduct, the couple’s attorney, Barton Jones, said Wednesday.

The two also filed a claim against the city, seeking $3.4 million for Miller and $550,000 for Conatser.

City officials declined comment on the lawsuit and claims filed Friday.
