Cops West Hosting Open House Friday

COPS West, the community policing substation at 1901 W. Boone Ave., will host an open house Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

The city’s first volunteer-operated community policing office has been expanded and spruced up.

The open house will mark the anniversary of the 1991 abduction and murder of Nicki Wood, 11, and Rebecca West, 12. The murders spawned citizen involvement in police work and what is now Spokane’s neighborhood policing organization.
