Gadhafi Congratulates Farrakhan On March
Col. Moammar Gadhafi called Louis Farrakhan to congratulate him on the “spectacular success” of the “Million Man March,” Libya’s news agency said Wednesday.
Gadhafi told Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, that the march Monday “toward the American capital … shook it violently in a peaceful and civil way,” JANA said.
During the conversation, Farrakhan described Gadhafi as his “beloved brother” and said the world’s Muslims could unite and defy U.N. sanctions imposed on Libya in 1992, JANA reported.
Ties between the Libyan leader and Farrakhan go back years.
Farrakhan once accepted a $5 million business loan from Libya, and he visited the North African country in 1986 for a conference on revolutionary movements, defying President Reagan’s order barring U.S. citizens from traveling there.
