Muster Advances; Stich Injured

Compiled From Wire Services

Top-seeded Thomas Muster was among quarterfinal winners at the CA Trophy tennis tournament, but the most lasting image of the day was Michael Stich being carried from the court on a stretcher after injuring his left ankle.

Stich, currently 12th in the world ATP rankings, was scrambling forward and to the left after a drop shot by Australia’s Todd Woodbridge when he sharply twisted his ankle and rolled over. He was carried from the court on a stretcher with his ankle iced and taped.
