Developer Donates Special Police Car

A Hayden Lake developer will donate a patrol car to the Rathdrum Police Department today to be used for community policing.

David Grafe, president of Lakeview Investments, is donating a fully-equipped 1985 Chevy Camaro to the department. His father used to be the Rathdrum police chief.

Community Policing Officer Bert Washburn will use the car during his regular duties as well as for attending community policing events such as the neighborhood watch programs and school events.

Grafe said the department needed an additional car, but couldn’t afford one. Rathdrum police officials say the additional car will allow each of the city’s full-time officers to have their own patrol car.

Lakeview Investments has developed lots near the new Betty Kiefer Elementary School known as the Lakeview Addition to the Glenview Court.
