IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch has threatened to expel baseball from the Olympics if the International Baseball Association doesn’t permit professionals to compete in the 2000 Games, said IBA chief Aldo Notari in Havana, Cuba.

Bruce Arena, who guided Virginia to four straight NCAA titles, was selected to coach the U.S. under-23 national soccer team, which will serve as the Olympic team next year.
