Rev. Moon Banned From Entering Britain

Compiled From Wire Services

Britain on Saturday banned the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, controversial leader of the Unification Church, from entering the country.

The Home Office, which is in charge of immigration, announced that Moon, 75, was being excluded from Britain because his presence was “not conducive to the public good.”

Moon had been scheduled to arrive in London next weekend for his first visit to Britain since 1978 to address followers. He called off a 1981 visit after then Home Secretary William Whitelaw made it clear he would not be welcomed.

The Unification Church, based in South Korea, is accused by critics of devious recruitment tactics, brainwashing members and duping them out of money.
