Two Teens Arrested After Man Wounded
From For the record (Wednesday, November 1, 1995): A story in Monday’s paper should have said that Ronica M. Engel, 19, of 1524 E. First, was one of two teenagers arrested in east Spokane after a fight with broken bottles and a kitchen knife. The Spokane Police Department gave out the wrong name.
Two teenagers were arrested in east Spokane after a fight with broken bottles and a kitchen knife Saturday that left a 22-year-old man in the hospital.
Police were called to the 1400 block of East First about 7 p.m. They found medics treating the victim, who was bleeding heavily. He told police that a woman he had dated had “set him up” for the beating.
Police followed a trail of blood from the yard to an apartment at 1524 E. First. They said they found a woman identified as Ronica M. Enger, 19, who lives in an apartment, and a male cleaning up blood and broken glass.
Police said they found blood in several rooms of the apartment along with a kitchen knife and large amounts of glass from broken beer and wine bottles. Police also recovered bloody clothing from two residences linked to the suspects.
Police arrested Enger and a 17-year-old male. They were booked on charges of first-degree assault and criminal conspiracy.
Police also were searching for another juvenile male.
The two males apparently attacked the victim in Enger’s apartment and broke bottles on his head, police said. He also may have been stabbed with a knife.
The victim was treated for cuts and released.
