From Staff And Wire Reports

Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. reported higher third-quarter earnings Monday compared with the same period last year.

The silver and gold mining company made $2 million, or 13 cents a share, compared with $1.6 million, or 11 cents a share, in the third quarter of 1994.

The company maintained its record pace of gold production through the first three quarters of 1995. Coeur produced 43,791 ounces of gold, the most ever by the company and 41 percent more than in third quarter of 1994.

For the first nine months of the year, Coeur made $2.3 million, or 15 cents a share, compared with a loss of $2.3 million in the same period last year.

In October, production began at Coeur’s Fachinal gold/silver mine in southern Chile. The mine is expected to raise production to more than 200,000 ounces of gold and more than 8 million ounces of silver annually.
