Compiled From Wire Services

Marco Dawson, seeking his first PGA Tour victory, shot a 6-under-par 65 to share the lead in the Greater Milwaukee Open with Richard Zokol.

Dawson had eight birdies, one of them on a 50-foot putt, for a two-day total of 7-under-par 135 at Brown Deer Park Golf Course. He started the day five shots off the lead.

Zokol, the 1992 GMO champion, entered the second round with a onestroke advantage and shot a 1-under-par 70 to stand even with Dawson.

Robert Gamez was one shot back after shooting a 69 for 136. Curtis Strange, Joe Acosta and Peter Jordan stood at 5-under-par 137.

Ben Smith shot a tournament-record 9-under-par 63 to take a two-stroke lead over Larry Laoretti after the first round of the Franklin Quest Championship at Park City, Utah.

Smith, 61, had nine birdies on the 7,026-yard Park Meadows course to match the mark set by Dave Stockton in 1993.

The Federal Trade Commission said it has ended its investigation into the PGA Tour’s conflicting event and television release rules without action.
