Teen Believed To Be Part Of Everett Car-Theft Ring

A teenager pleaded guilty on Monday to taking part in an early morning robbery and the theft of a car from a Valley man in June.

The 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery and first-degree possession of stolen property. He was the second teenager to admit to the crime.

A 17-year-old Valley youth pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery and first-degree possession of stolen property a few weeks ago.

The two were part of a group of teenagers who crashed a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, reported stolen in Missoula, through the fence surrounding a house on the 7900 block of East Beverly on June 19. The Jeep got stuck on a rock, forcing the teens to spend the night in the vehicle.

When the homeowner rousted the group early the next morning, they threatened him with a pipe, stole his wallet and his 1989 Chrysler New Yorker.

Spokane County sheriff’s detectives believe the incident in the Valley is part of a car theft ring based in Everett, Wash. Detectives say the teens have also burglarized several homes.

Both of the youths charged in Spokane will also face additional robbery and theft charges in Everett when they are released from detention, said Lt. David Wiyrick, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department spokesman. Wiyrick said the investigation in Missoula is continuing.

A third teenager - a 16-year-old boy - has also been charged in the Valley incident, but is currently serving time for related charges in an Everett detention center.

Stolen car found on North Side

Deputies recovered a car stolen from a Valley resident in a North Side parking.

A woman reported her blue, 1988 Chevrolet Sprint stolen from her house on the 200 block of South Whipple on Tuesday.

She told deputies Sammie Gilmore, 28, was at her house before the car was stolen. She left Gilmore alone in a room with her keys and when she returned, her keys and her car and Gilmore were gone, Wiyrick said.

Deputies found the car in a grocery store parking lot at Lincoln Road and Division. They arrested Gilmore inside the store for taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission and an outstanding warrant.

Gilmore, who gave his address as 9904 E. Fourth, No. 1, was booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Fugitive arrested in Valley

A man wanted for theft in Fargo, N.D., was arrested in the Valley early Tuesday.

Deputies were investigating four vehicles parked in a field west of Spokane Bridge Road in the Valley.

They found Robert Walz, 27, in a sleeping bag. After checking his record, deputies discovered the warrant. Walz was booked into the county jail.
