Inland Northwest Students Recipients Of Scholarships
With fall - and the opening of colleges and universities - just around the corner, the names of Inland Northwest students who have received scholarships are being received at the newspaper.
The following students are scholarship winners:
Jennifer Bell, daughter of Michael Bell, Spokane, $1,200 Minority Achievement Program scholarship; Western Washington University, Bellingham.
James Kawabata, son of James and Patricia Kawabata, Spokane, $1,200 Minority Achievement Program scholarship; Western Washington University, Bellingham.
Molly Lake, daughter of J.R. and Joan Lake, Republic, Wash., $5,000 GMI Recognition Scholarship; GMI Engineering & Management Institute, Flint, Mich.
Shawna Kristin, graduate of North Central High School, Washington State Employees Credit Union Scholarship, University of Washington.
Amy Neilson, graduate of North Central High School, Washington State Employees Credit Union Scholarship; University of Washington.
Jennifer Hayes, graduate of Gonzaga Prep., Kootenai Electric scholarship.
Burke Mulvany, son of John Mulvany, Spokane, $500 tuition and fee waiver at Western Washington University, Bellingham.
Darla Anderson, Denise Ankorn, Chantelle Damm, Meagan Elliott-Marsh, Andrew Gordan, Monet Lee and Lindy Leifer, all of Spokane; Andrea Crumpler, Colbert; Annaka Gustafson, Deer Park; and Kirsten Johnson, Mead; each received $600 James H. Conover scholarships from Neighbors of Woodcraft.
Joshua Belzman and Troy Wilson, both of Spokane; each received $1,000 James H. Conover scholarships from Neighbors of Woodcraft.
Sasha Jackowich, East Valley High School, first place; Jaime Meenach, Freeman High School, second place; and Saneta deVuonoPowell, Lewis and Clark High School, third place from Executive Women International Awards scholarships.
Lora Lee Henning, daughter of Dan and Bonnie Henning, Rosalia, Wash., $1,600 Academic Tuition Scholarship at the University of Idaho and $500 University of Idaho Presidential Scholarship.
Beth Scheele, daughter of Julie Scheele, Rosalia, $2,500 Dussalt Scholarship from Gonzaga University, renewable for four years.
Andrew Richardson, son of Diane and Kent Richardson, Spokane, $750 Mathematics Memorial Scholarship at Western Washington University, Bellingham.
Lisa Thorne, daughter of Donald and Sharyn Thorne, Spokane, $2,250 Garco Construction Co. scholarship, awarded to a student from St. Aloysius Parish attending Gonzaga Prep. She is a sophomore honor student.
Jon Jurich, son of Joseph and Kathy Jurich, Spokane, $1,700 Christopher M. West Memorial Scholarship, Gonzaga Prep.
Nicholas Feulner, son of Bob and Sue Feulner, Spokane, $5,025 Robert & Mildred Fees Memorial Scholarship; a junior at Gonzaga Prep.
Florence Hansen, Spokane, an alumna of the College of New Rochelle, N.Y., was awarded the Angela Merici Medal. The college’s highest award, it is given to an outstanding alumnae for exceptional loyalty to the church and college, and for distinctive achievement in their careers.
Hansen is described as a “truly Christian woman” with a distinguished career in social work.
