Death Row Inmate Wants To Die Now
Harry Charles Moore is one Death Row inmate who wants to get it over with quickly. He wants to die.
Moore, who was convicted of aggravated murder in Marion County for shooting his wife’s parents in 1993, has been steadfast in his desire to pay the ultimate penalty for his crimes.
He has admitted to killing Thomas B. Lauri, 60, and Barbara Jean Cunningham 53, because he was afraid they would move to Las Vegas and take his estranged wife and infant daughter.
The Oregon Supreme Court is to hear arguments this week in the mandatory appeal of the case.
The court could take anywhere from six months to a year to issue an opinion, but that decision could put Moore on track for Oregon’s first execution in 33 years.
Voters in Oregon reinstated the death penalty in 1984, but no one has been executed.
In numerous letters to state officials, Moore, 54, has been pleading for them to get on with it.
