Plane Missing With Three Aboard

From Staff And Wire Reports

A small, private plane on a sightseeing flight through the Cascade Mountains didn’t return Monday as scheduled, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Three people were on board: the pilot and his father, both from Wenatchee, and the pilot’s uncle, from Eugene, Oregon, said Brian Holmes, chief pilot for the department’s aviation division.

Their names were not released.

The plane departed from Wenatchee Monday morning and was headed toward Glacier Peak in the north Cascades. The plane was due back at 1:30 p.m., but never returned, Holmes said.

“We had airplanes up this evening looking for them until darkness forced them out of the sky,” he said.

The search was scheduled to resume at daybreak today.
