Cashmere Grandmother Raped By Early Morning Intruder

From Staff And Wire Reports

An intruder awakened a Cashmere grandmother from her sleep and raped her Thursday morning.

The woman and her 14-year-old grandson were sleeping about 4:20 a.m. when the man walked into their house through an unlocked door, according to Chelan County sheriff’s deputies.

The boy told investigators he awoke to someone tugging at his sweat pants. The man threatened him with a pair of kitchen shears. He then bound and gagged the boy with bed sheets, deputies said.

The man then walked into the 57-year-old woman’s bedroom and raped her, deputies said. He threatened to come back and attack her again if she reported the assault.

The woman told her daughter and son-in-law of the attack. They reported it to sheriff’s deputies.

The woman described the man as white, in his early 30s, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8, weighing about 160 pounds.

He has brown, mid-ear length hair and a distinctive cleft chin. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue and white checked shirt, a black ball cap and heavy black boots.
