Man Gunned Down Before Sex Trial

A man charged with sexually abusing his stepdaughter was shot and killed Monday as he arrived for trial outside an Oslo courthouse.

A man police said was the stepdaughter’s husband or boyfriend was immediately arrested.

The 46-year-old victim, whom police identified only as a naturalized Norwegian citizen originally from Egypt, died in an ambulance on the way to a hospital.

He was charged with the statutory rape of his stepdaughter starting when she was 14. She is now 21.

The man arrested in the shooting is a Danish citizen from the former Yugoslavia. Police did not release his name.
