June Witter Spokane

Vigil service for June R. Witter, 64, is planned for 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and will be conducted by her cousin, the Rev. Armand Nigro, S.J. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Witter died Saturday of cancer.

She was born in Spokane and graduated from Rogers High School and Sacred Heart School of Nursing.

She worked for Sacred Heart Medical Center for 33 years. From 1971 until her retirement in 1989, she served as head nurse and nurse manager of the hospital emergency department.

Mrs. Witter was a member of the Emergency Department Nurses Association and the Spokane Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Center. She also served as a volunteer for the Medical Center Service League.

She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Stanley Witter Jr. of Spokane; two sons, Stephen Witter of Spokane and Gregory Witter of Seattle; one daughter, Katharine Witter Brindley of Mercer Island, Wash.; her mother, Eva Gagliardi of Spokane; one brother, Joseph Gagliardi of Spokane; one sister, Karen Volpatti of Burnaby, British Columbia; and two granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Morning Star Boys Ranch.

Joyce Kennedy Spokane

Memorial Service for Joyce A. Kennedy, 67, will be at 3 p.m. today at Liberty Lake Community Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kennedy, who died Friday, was born in Lewistown, Mont.

She had worked as a pilot car driver for a construction company.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Howard; three sons, Dale Kennedy of Bozeman, Mont., Ron Kennedy of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Steve Kennedy of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Shelley Sharp of Liberty Lake and Sheila Kennedy of Spokane; one brother, Elmer Reip of Kennewick; one sister, Lucille Caldwell of Indiana; her mother, Lucille Reip of Pasco; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Irene ‘Eve’ Duehning Spokane

Graveside memorial service for Irene “Eve” (Hoyt) Duehning, 83, was Monday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Duehning, who died Thursday, was born in Spokane.

A lifetime resident of the area, Mrs. Duehning graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for many years as a registered nurse.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Her husband, Bill Duehning, died in 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Doug Duehning of Seattle and Dennis Duehning of Aurora, Ill.; two daughters, Carlen Fensler of Memphis, Tenn., and Kay Zollman of Nine Mile Falls; one brother, Chan Hoyt of Spokane; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Doris Griff Hayden Lake, Idaho

Service for Doris Griff, 74, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Griff, who was born in Buffalo Springs, N.D., died Friday at her home.

She married Harvey Griff in Montana in 1941. They farmed in Scranton, N.D., until retiring to Hamilton, Mont., in 1978. They moved to Hayden Lake in 1990.

Mrs. Griff loved her family and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and fishing.

Survivors include her husband, at home; her son, H. Darin Griff of Hayden Lake; one daughter, Diana Iverson of South Dakota; two brothers, Bryan Hestekin of Spokane and Lee Hestekin of Great Falls, Mont.; one sister, Judy Rouse of Hamilton; two grandchildren, and seven nieces and nephews.

LeRoy Decker Spokane

No service will be held for LeRoy F. Decker, at his request. HennesseySmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Decker, 67, died Thursday at home.

He was born in Calgary, Alberta.

Mr. Decker was a Lewis and Clark High School graduate.

He retired from US West Communications in 1983 after 36 years.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Decker was a member of Eagles Lodge 2.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Julia Decker of Spokane; one daughter, Kaye DeLong of Spokane; one son, Terence Decker of Kent, Wash.; one sister, Cleo Ives of Colorado Springs, Colo., and six grandchildren.

Richard Konesky Spokane

Funeral Mass for Richard J. Konesky, 57, was Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Konesky, who was born in Butte, Mont., died Friday at home.

He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the College of Great Falls and a master’s degree from the University of Montana.

He moved to Spokane 20 years ago and had worked for IBM for 30 years, from which he retired in 1993.

Most recently he was employed as vice president and manager of information systems at Washington Trust Bank.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, WAMPUM, and the College of Great Falls Alumni Association.

He is survived by his wife Mary Alyce; three daughters, Lynne Patzelt of Overland Park, Kan., Elizabeth Konesky of Los Gatos, Calif., and Anne Gosnell of Eagan, Minn.; one son, Michael Konesky of Capitola, Calif.; his mother, Rosalie Konesky of Great Falls, Mont.; one brother, Kennard Kapstafer of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Arthur Gray Spokane

Memorial Mass for Arthur F. Gray, 68, is set for 5:30 p.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gray, who died Friday at home, was born in Tuscon, Ariz.

He served in the Army following World War II and later worked as the boy’s physical education director of the YMCA in El Paso, Texas.

He moved to Spokane in 1969 and worked with LaSalle Extension University and DeVry Institute of Technology in educational sales. He also worked in real estate sales before retiring in 1988.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nannette Gray; three sons, Michael Gray of Fort Worth, Texas, Patrick Gray of Phoenix and Jonathan Gray of Spokane; two daughters, Shelly Christensen of Everett and Lissa Olson of Moscow, Idaho; two sisters, Juanita Luna of El Paso and Alta Davis of Fort Worth, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Robert Codd Spokane

Vigil Service for Robert J. Codd, 75, is planned for 7 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Codd died Saturday.

He was born in Spokane.

Mr. Codd was a partner in the Rockaway Cafe in Spokane from 1955 to 1965 and worked in real estate sales from 1968 to 1978.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Cecilia Codd; seven sons, Philip, William, Nicholas and Louis Codd, all of Spokane, Robert Codd of Tukwila, Wash., the Rev. Kevin Codd of Walla Walla, and Paul Codd of Seattle; four daughters, Sheila LeDuc of Kalispell, Mont., Eileen Morris of Arlington, Wash., Patricia Baggett of Spokane and Therese Codd of Wasilla, Alaska; two sisters, Leonore McAuliffe of Cottonwood, Calif., and Genevieve Nash of Spokane; and 18 grandchildren.

Johnny Olsen Spokane

Service for Johnny Julius Olsen, 74, will be at 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery at Fairfield.

Mr. Olsen, who was born in Fairfield, died Friday.

He had lived in Clayton, Buckeye and Elk, Wash., and moved to Spokane in 1933.

He graduated from Rogers High School in 1939.

He had worked at a lumber mill and as a welder at Kaiser shipyards in Portland. He entered the Air Force in 1943 and was a ball turret gunner on a B-17.

After the war he worked for Union Iron Works as a welder and steel salesman.

In 1959 he went to work for Spokane Machinery. He retired in 1986.

He and his wife years, Florence, moved to Fairwood Retirement Center in 1987.

He was on the board of directors of Corbin Community Center and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Florence; one daughter, Kendra DeCamp of Bremerton; one son, John Olsen of Seattle; one sister, Mae Turner of Green Bluff; three granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

Reginald McNaught-Davis Spokane

Memorial service for Reginald J. McNaught-Davis, 78, is planned for 1 p.m. today at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McNaught-Davis died Friday.

He was born in Grand Forks, British Columbia.

He graduated from Rogers High School and served in the Air Force as an aerial gunnery instructor from 1943 to 1946.

He was an independent insurance broker and was a member of the Spokane Estate Planning Council, the Spokane Chapter of Chartered Life Underwriters, Audubon Park Masonic Lodge 272, and the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pearl McNaught-Davis; one son, Stanley McNaught-Davis, and one daughter, Marilyn McNaught-Davis, both of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Howard Beebe Davenport, Wash.

Funeral Mass for Howard Beebe, 77, will be at 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport. Strate Funeral Home of Davenport is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Beebe died Thursday at home.

He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., and graduated from high school there. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1939 to 1945.

He moved to Spokane and worked as an auto mechanic.

In 1959 he moved to Davenport and worked for K & J Pontiac until 1974, when he went to work for the Sunset Garage in Almira, Wash. He retired in 1983.

Mr. Beebe was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7480, Pup Tent 23 of the Military Order of Cooties, Clinton Brown American Legion Post 46, and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Betty Beebe; one son, Roger Beebe of Modesto, Calif.; one daughter, Lynn Borhauer of Spokane; one stepson, Wesley Anderson of Spokane; two stepdaughters, Catherine Anderson Revill of Medical Lake and Teresa Paulson of Prescott, Wash.; one sister, Pat Fredrick of Sitka, Alaska; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Davenport Public Library, the Youth Activity Fund of VFW Post 7480, or to the Cancer Aid Research Fund in care of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.

Edwina Mehulky Spokane

Service for Edwina E. Mehulky, 59, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Mehulky, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Friday.

Her husband, James Mehulky, died in 1984.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Fountaine of Veradale and Bridget Norske of Vancouver, Wash.; one granddaughter and three grandsons.

Adeline Lauer Spokane

Vigil service for Adeline C. Lauer, 88, is planned for 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lauer died Sunday.

She was born in St. Cloud, Minn.

Her husband, Wilford Lauer, died in 1951.

A homemaker, Mrs. Lauer had lived in Spokane for 53 years.

She was a member of Our Lady Lourdes Cathedral, the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary.

She is survived by three daughters Donna Hair of Pahrump, Nev., and Arlene Bascetta and Betty Coan, both of Spokane; two sons Robert Lauer of Bellevue, Wash., and Harry Lauer of Spokane; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

William Reinbold Davenport, Wash.

Service for William Christian Reinbold, 93, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Reinbold died Friday at home.

He was born in Egypt, Wash.

Mr. Reinbold was a wheat farmer with one of his brothers, Ed, in the Davenport and Reardan areas during the 1920s and 1930s.

In 1941 they bought a dairy farm near Marshall, Wash.

After his brother’s death, Mr. Reinbold continued to operate the dairy farm until 1971, when he and his wife, Theresa. returned to Davenport. She died in 1988.

Mr. Reinbold returned to the Spokane area four years ago. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by one son, Raymond Reinbold of Kirkland, Wash.; one daughter, Pauline Soderquist of Liberty Lake; three granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

William Langdon Jr. Colbert

Service for William G. “Bill” Langdon Jr., 61, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Langdon, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.

He owned a publishing company in Spokane.

He is survived by his wife, Chic Langdon; and one son, Forrest Langdon of Jacksonville, Fla.

Harley Rickman Spokane

Vigil service for Harley J. Rickman, 80, was held at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Funeral Mass was Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Cremation followed.

Mr. Rickman, who died Sept. 4, was born in Kennewick. He moved to Spokane in 1941.

He worked as a millwright for Kaiser Aluminum for 31 years. He retired in 1978.

Mr. Rickman, who served in the Army during World War II, was a member of Manito Masonic Lodge and the Order of Amaranth.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean Rickman; two daughters, Helen Conner of Deer Island, Ore., and Linda Thomas of Seattle; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
