Louise Lauten Spokane

Service for Louise Lauten, 83, will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at 11 a.m. next Thursday at the Colfax (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mrs. Lauten, who was born in Endicott, Wash., died Sept. 1.

She had lived in Spokane for 17 years. Mrs. Lauten, who served as a nurse in the Navy during World War II, worked as a registered nurse.

She is survived by two sisters, Clara Anderson of Spokane and Edna Hughes of California.

Arthur Hepton Spokane

Rosary for Arthur G. Hepton, 86, will be at 7 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is set for 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Post Falls. There will be a private inurnment.

Mr. Hepton died Monday at Deaconess Medical Center.

He was born in Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

He was a rancher and livestock dealer. He was a member of the Cattlemen Association.

He is survived by two sons, Fred and James Hepton, both of Spokane; two daughters, Janet Karstetter of Spokane and Julie Tozzi of Monroe, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Martha Cox Reardan, Wash.

Service for Martha L. Cox, 78, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Reardan. Burial will be at Reardan Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Helena, Mrs. Cox died Monday.

She graduated from Reardan High School and Cheney Normal School and was a teacher in Reardan and Cheney.

She was a member of Reardan Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Mondovi Grange.

Her husband, Joseph Cox, died in 1993.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Addington of Reardan and Shirley Broyles of Spokane; two sisters, Freda Schwartz of Davenport, Wash., and Irene Burgess of Seattle; and three grandsons.

Catherine Herron Connell, Wash.

Memorial service for Catherine M. Herron, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Connell United Methodist Church. Private burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery at a later date. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Herron died Monday at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane.

She was born in Munhall, Pa.

She graduated from Chatham College in Pittsburgh with degrees in languages and music. She was proficient in German, French and Spanish and was asked to interpret at the Nuremberg War Trials following World War II.

She and her husband, Dennis Herron, moved to Washington and farmed six miles north of Kahlotus.

In 1959 they moved to Connell and continued to farm. Mrs. Herron took over management of the farm after her husband died in 1973.

She was a member of Connell United Methodist Church, Franklin County Wheat Growers Association, Washington State Association of Wheat Growers, Connell Garden Club, and the Kahlotus and Connell Grange.

Survivors include are four sons, Dana and Christopher Herron, both of Connell, David Herron of Spokane and Kim Herron of Portland; two brothers, Chet Mitz of Kennewick and Don Mitz of Bethel Park, Pa.; two sisters, Eileen Mellon of Mesa, Ariz., and June McCafferty of Hudson, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Mary Fulwiler Spokane

Vigil service for Mary Theresa Fulwiler, 96, will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Fulwiler died Monday at St. Luke’s Extended Care Center.

She was born in Thompson, N.D.

She had lived in Spokane for 53 years and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Charles Fulwiler, died in 1969.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

She is survived by four daughters, Helen Whitney of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., and Lois Stadtmueller, Rita Kresek and Barbara Prague, all of Spokane; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Isabelle Melville Spokane

Vigil service for Isabelle (Nash) Melville, 92, will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is set for 2 p.m. Friday at the church with burial at Pines Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Melville, who died Monday, was born in Whitebird, Idaho.

She had lived in Spokane for most of her life and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

She taught in the Central Valley School District from 1944 until 1965.

She was a member of the Pioneers of Idaho, Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority at Washington State University. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Douglas Melville of Spokane; two daughters, Judy Thies and Janie Donahue, both of Spokane; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Anne Heskett Spokane

Vigil service for Anne (Richards) Heskett, 81, is planned for 6 p.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Heskett, a longtime Spokane resident, died Monday.

She was born in Virginia, Minn.

She graduated from Barat College in Lake Forest, Ill., and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Heskett; two sons, John and Roger Heskett, both of Spokane; one brother, John Richards of Gilbert, Minn.; two sisters, Mary Siewert of Rochester, N.Y., and Nancy Ryan of Hibbing, Minn.; and nine grandchildren.

Violet McDonald Spokane

Service for Violet A. McDonald, 90, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. McDonald, who was born in Northport, Wash., died Sunday.

A homemaker, Mrs. McDonald had lived in Spokane for 74 years.

She was a member of the Hillyard Senior Citizens Center.

Her husband, Murdock McDonald, died in 1966.

She is survived by two daughters, Nevada Lewis of Spokane and Viola Anderson of Enumclaw, Wash.; nine grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Merttybell Blue Spokane

Service for Merttybell F. Blue, 72, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Unity Church of Truth. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blue died Friday.

She was born in Aladdin, Wash., and moved to Spokane in 1945 from Vancouver, Wash.

She worked as a housekeeper at Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

She was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 2.

Her husband, Harold Blue, died in March.

She is survived by one daughter, Janeen Hartman of Spokane; two grandsons, two granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.

Wayne Vick Spokane

A private cremation service will be held for Wayne K. Vick. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vick, 82, died Friday.

He was born in Canada.

He had lived in Spokane for 53 years and was an ironworker.

He was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local No. 14.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Vick; one son, Ronald Vick of Spokane; two daughters, Janet Hammer of Kirkland, Wash., and Teree Barber of Redmond, Wash.; one brother, Norris Vick of Spokane; one sister, Irene Collins of Marysville, Mo.; and two grandsons.

George ‘Buzz’ Burton Spokane

Memorial service for George L. “Buzz” Burton, 65, is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial in Spangle will be at a later date.

Mr. Burton, who died, Tuesday, was born in Tekoa, Wash.

He graduated from North Central High School and had lived in Spokane for more than 61 years.

He served in the Korean War in the Air Force.

He worked in Spokane as a bartender.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1474.

Survivors include his mother, Laura Johnson.
