Miller Steps Down From Coaching Position To Pursue Broadcasting
Cheryl Miller, 31, a Hall of Fame player who led the Southern California women’s basketball team to two NCAA tournament appearances as coach of her alma mater, abruptly resigned Friday.
Miller quit to pursue an undisclosed opportunity in a different career, athletic director Mike Garrett said. The Associated Press learned the opportunity likely involves a television announcing job.
A source close to the USC program, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Miller is on the verge of signing a television announcing deal, which could be made public as early as next week.
Fred Williams, associate head coach the past two years, was named interim coach.
