Nba Set To Play
NBA owners voted 24-5 to ratify a six-year collective bargaining agreement with the players association, the final step toward ending a summer of labor strife.
Players approved the same deal Wednesday by a 25-2 vote. The league said it will lift its lockout at noon EDT Monday. The lockout began July 1.
Owners originally had planned to meet Monday in New York, but Commissioner David Stern wanted the deal ratified before the weekend and conducted the vote by telex. A three-quarters majority was needed for approval in the telex vote.
