Transplant Patient Resumes Schoolwork
An All Saints fifth-grader has left the hospital and resumed his schoolwork just 10 days after undergoing a heart transplant.
Brian Prawdzik, 10, of Spokane had the surgery Sept. 4 at Lucille Packard’s Children’s Hospital at Stanford University. He is the son of Jan and Steve Prawdzik of Spokane.
Brian was discharged Friday night.
The Prawdziks, who have set up a temporary household near the hospital, expect to remain there at least two more months.
Jan Prawdzik said Brian was adjusting to taking medication seven times a day and having his blood pressure and temperature constantly checked. He tires easily and is suffering from side effects, such as insomnia, she said.
