United League On Hold
The United League, announced with great fanfare last November, said it will postpone its initial baseball season from 1996 to 1997 because of stadium problems.
“Despite the enthusiastic response we have received in New York and Los Angeles, we have experienced only recently erected roadblocks to our stadium agreements in those locations,” said Bob Mracek, a former congressman who is one of the league’s founders. “These problems have the potential to prevent us from presenting our games in the atmosphere which is most attractive to baseball fans.”
